In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

"And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]."

Quran 2:43

"Maintain with care the [obligatory] prayers and [in particular] the middle prayer and stand before Allah, devoutly obedient."

Quran 2:238

"Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times."

Quran 4:103

"And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]."

Quran 2:45

The Importance of Salaah in Islam

Pillar of Islam

Salaah is the second pillar of Islam and the most important act of worship after the Shahadah.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"Islam is built upon five: Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, paying zakah, pilgrimage to the House, and fasting Ramadan." (Bukhari)

Congregational Prayer

Praying in congregation at the Masjid is highly emphasized:

  • 27 times more reward than praying alone (Bukhari)
  • Strengthens brotherhood and unity
  • Obligatory for men for Friday (Jumu'ah) prayer
  • Highly recommended for the five daily prayers

The Prophet ﷺ said: "The prayer of a man in congregation is twenty-five times superior to his prayer in his house or market." (Bukhari)

Spiritual Benefits

Salaah provides numerous spiritual benefits:

  • Purification from sins (between prayers)
  • Connection with Allah 5 times daily
  • Discipline and time management
  • Patience and gratitude cultivation
  • Protection from evil deeds

"The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound." (Tabarani)

Conditions for Valid Salaah

Purification (Taharah)

  • Wudu - Ablution for minor impurities
  • Ghusl - Ritual bath for major impurities
  • Clean body, clothes, and prayer area
  • Removal of all physical impurities (najasah)

"Allah does not accept prayer without purification." (Muslim)

Facing Qiblah

Muslims must face the Ka'bah in Makkah during prayer.

In Masjid Al-Furqaan, the Qiblah direction has been carefully determined according to Islamic guidelines.

"So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you are, turn your faces toward it." (Quran 2:144)

Proper Attire

  • Men: Covering from navel to knees at minimum
  • Women: Covering entire body except face and hands
  • Clothes should be loose and non-transparent
  • Free from images of animate beings

"O Children of Adam! Take your adornment at every masjid..." (Quran 7:31)
