'Whoever, fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith and
hoping for a reward from Allah,
then all his past sins will be forgiven.

مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ
"Whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven."
Sahih al-Bukhari 38
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
A person's intention when fasting is to bring him/herself closer to Allah.
نَوَيْتُ صَوْمَ غَدٍ عَنْ أَدَاءِ فَرْضِ رَمَضَانَ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى
"O Allah, I intend to fast for this day in order to perform my duty towards You in the month of Ramadhan of the present year."
اَللّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
"O Allah! For You have I fasted and upon Your sustenance have I broken my fast."
I'tikaf is a beautiful Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ where one stays in the masjid during the last 10 days of Ramadaan, devoting oneself to worship, Quran recitation, and seeking Laylat al-Qadr.

"Every good deed of the son of Adam is multiplied... but fasting is for Me and I shall reward for it." (Bukhari)
"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting... that you may become righteous." (Quran 2:183)
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind..." (Quran 2:185)
The Prophet ﷺ was most generous in Ramadan, giving charity like the fast wind. (Bukhari)
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ
"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of the guidance and criterion."
